Obituary of Mary Fehr
♥ A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. ♥
In loving memory of our mother, Mary Fehr, we are saddened to announce her passing on December 4, 2020. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Langley, BC. She was in her 85th year.
She was the beloved mother of Loraine, Clarence, and Darlene, proud grandmother of Amanda, Dayle, Chelsea, Breanna, Alyssa and Sarah; and great grandmother to Aaron, Brendan, Carter, David, Eden, Lucas and Aubrey.
Predeceased by her devoted husband Henry Fehr, and brother Henry Heinrichs.
Born in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, on January 29, 1936, She witnessed incredible changes to her world in her lifetime. She grew up in southern Manitoba where she met and married her first love, Henry Fehr, in 1956. They built a house in 1962 in Morden, MB. They moved their family to Thompson, MB, in 1967. 1969 found them moving to BC, where they started their first business. In 1989, Henry passed away and left her a widow. She found herself a job and her independence, and did very well on her own for the next 10 years. She retired in 1998.
Mary lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and worker in the retail sector. She loved to cook, kept a clean house, was highly skilled with sewing, knitting (there was always something on her needles), crocheting, cross stitch and quilting. She was happy when she was creating something. She also enjoyed her weekly outings to the local bowling alley, monthly birthday lunches with the ladies from church and the Langley Senior Centre, where she volunteered on a regular basis. A farm girl at heart, gardening was also a passion.
Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
At Mary’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, she asked that we celebrate her life and “keep smiling”. A small gathering will be organized in 2021 once it is safe to do so.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Parkinson Society British Columbia. The family of Mary Fehr wishes to thank all the nurses and caregivers who cared for her, in her last few months of life, at Chartwell Langley Gardens care home.
To Those Whom I Love & Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do,
You mustn't tie yourself to me with too many tears,
But be thankful we had so many good years.
I gave you my love, and you can only guess
How much you've given me in happiness.
I thank you for the love that you have shown,
But now it is time I traveled on alone.
So grieve for me a while, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It is only for a while that we must part,
So treasure the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away for life goes on.
And if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I will be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear,
All my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and a 'Welcome Home'.
