Obituary of Margaret Ida Taylor
Our mom passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2019 with her family at her side. Margaret Ida (nee Sedman) Taylor was a beautiful lady. We were blessed to have her in our lives. Mom was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She was the only child. Her parents had a corner store and she loved working there after school.
When she was 13 years old she travelled by train to Nova Scotia where she lived with her grandparents for a year and attended school in Jordan Ferry. The family sold the grocery store and moved to Nova Scotia and settled in Halifax.
When mom was working at the Chronicle Herald she met dad. They met in May 1947 and were married 6 months later on November 20, 1947, the same day as Queen Elizabeth II. She was an avid royalist.
A short time later their first child Susan was born and 7 years later second child Colin was born. Mother is survived by her loving husband of 71 years Tom, children Susan (Frank), Colin (Barb); 5 grandchildren Jessica (Dan), Karen (Emilio), Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Tracy; 2 great grandchildren Shivam, Isis.
She loved her Saturday morning breakfasts with the family. Mom and dad travelled a lot in North America and in Europe. She loved to go-go-go. Her mission was to stamp out home cooking. Our parents were always sharing a meal.
She started the Coronation Street Fan Club in Walnut Grove and it later evolved into the Coronation Red Hatters. Margaret was the Baroness of the chapter. She loved bridge and sometimes she would play 5 times a week. One of her bridge friends, Pedja, called her "Ruthless Margaret".
Margaret wouldn't turn her back on any problem. She loved her family fiercely and she was kind.
