Obituary of Dennis Mawhinney

Please share a memory of Dennis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dennis Elvin Mawhinney, age 87 years, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2019 following a brief illness.

Most important to Dennis was his faith in his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and he was looking forward to spending eternity with Jesus.  Dennis loved his family deeply and was proud of all his children, grandchildren and great grandson.  He was always eager to hear the latest news from the family of each of his children.

Dennis loved to garden and tending his colourful flower beds and pots gave him much enjoyment.  Well known in the forest industry, Dennis spent many years working in various aspects of it, gaining expertise and knowledge. If you wanted to know what kind of a tree you were looking at, Dennis always knew.

Dennis was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Jean in October 2016. He is survived by his children Alison (Dale), Mike (Gail) and Mark (Lee). Also by his grandchildren Chelsea, Daniel, Jessica, Sean, Kara, Keegan and his great-grandson Odin.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held at Relate Church, 6788 152 Street, Surrey, BC on July 17, 2019 at 3:00 pm.  A private interment will be held before the Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Langley Hospice Society at langleyhospice.com.

Our family would like to thank each of you for your kind words of support.
