"A Local Family Owned Business"
Obituary of Scott Walley Gifford
Scott Walley Gifford
15 January 1959 – 30 July 2018
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband and father. Scott was born in Montreal to Brenda & Mel Gifford. He developed life long friendships in his hometown, some of whom followed him out west and remain very close to this day.
Scott had a passion for exploring and developed a number of businesses over the years. He worked at it tirelessly and with unbounded enthusiasm. His devotion was not limited to his career. He was an amazing father and family man to his great sons Quinn and Brendan. Travelling, camping and dirt biking with his family was his joy and always looked forward to the Davis Lake annual dirt bike trip with Frank, Peter, Jeff and the boys. He always encouraged his boys to join sports teams like ball hockey, soccer and ice hockey. He loved to watch them play. Scott always looked forward to his times with brother Jeff working on the latest home repair. They shared many laughs together. Scott took pride in each task he undertook and liked to pay close attention to every detail, no matter how long it took. He loved classic cars and was a fine cook alongside Doreen. They took many opportunities to share their creations with friends and family and perhaps even a bonfire. Many will remember his famous fish and chips and fireworks. He was an incredible uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Scott is survived by his wife of 22 years Doreen; his sons Brendan and Quinn; his dedicated brother Jeff.
The tremendous outpouring of support from family and friends speaks volumes about his outgoing personality and an incredibly generous heart. We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Jonathan Loree of the BC Cancer Society; the staff at Langley Memorial Hospital and Hospice for their tender loving care.
Words cannot express how we will miss you my love. Your humour and kindness will be remembered by us all.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at the family home Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:30 pm. In Scott's memory please bring a non perishable food item for the Food Bank. In lieu of flowers donations may be made directly to Covenant House or the BC Cancer Agency.
