Dear Christine, Tien and Family,
I was so saddened to learn of Leo's passing last evening when I opened up my email, my heart just sank. Words are not enough to express for how deeply sorry I am for the loss of your beloved Leo. For me, and to all those who knew him, know what a kind hearted, gentle loving man he was with an incredibly beautiful soul inside and out. He will be greatly missed by all. May God provide you strength and courage to cope during this most difficult time. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and know with every note of a pan flute we all have an Angel shining down upon us with the biggest smile forever placed in our hearts.
Much love to you all,
Mary-Jo

Dear Christine, Tien and the rest of the family,
I have a lot of beautiful memories about Leo, I remember him as a really cool person with a great sense of humour and a positive mindset. He would always be smiling. It's a real shame Lena did not get the chance to meet him, since I'm absolutely sure she would have loved him and his personality.
Rest in peace, Leo.

Dear aunt Christine and nephew Tien and family,
First of all accept our condolences and we wish you strength.
We miss him very much. Luckily, we hold him close to us in our memories. We visited Vancouver a couple of times, at the beginning with my parents, later with Nancy and our children. He, and all of you, always made us feel welcomed. He always made sure to entertain us at his house, feed us wonderful meals prepared by him and Christine. He made sure our travel and stay was free of any concerns.
When he joined you on your visits to Belgium, we were always happy because of the warmhearted family gatherings.
If something happened to someone of the family, he always was the first to support or help in any way. Even if he lived remotely and far away.
We remember him as a family man, family was so important to him.
Leopold, we want to thank you again for everything and we will treasure all the wonderful memories of you with our parents and our family!
Filip en Nancy

Mr. Verstraete went out of his way to visit me when I was a 19 year old Au Pair, in Lyon France, 34 years ago, he took me out for ice-cream. I have never forgotten his kindness. It was my first time away from home for an extended period of time and his visit was very comforting; it meant so much to me. My thoughts are with, you, Mrs. Verstraete and with you Tien. My sincere condolences, may peace be with you. ❤️

Dear Christine, Tien and family
We will always remember Leo as a fun-loving, adventurous and kind person, especially my dad. When telling stories about Leo and their adventures as children here at back of Maria and Alois's house and café, he does so with pride and a big smile.
We feel deeply for your loss and Leo and your family are in our prayers.
Lots of love and warmth.

Dear Christine and family - My heartfelt condolences go out to all of you. Having been down this same journey with my beloved husband, I know the sadness and grief you are feeling at this loss. Leo was a very special man and I know he and John shared a special friendship meeting only because of their shared illness. At this time I also made a new friend....you, Christine, and I so appreciated your love and support during my time of need. Please take comfort in all your wonderful memories together, the love you had for each other and the fact Leo is no longer being held hostage by this horrid disease. May you be comforted by your loving family, friends and you faith. I admire you, Christine, for your true dedication, love and amazing caregiving during the progress of Leo's illness. With love, Sharon

Christine, I am very saddened to learn of Leo's passing. I am hopeful that all of the many years of wonderful memories you shared will help in dealing with your loss.
I will always think back at my years at Canandaigua Wine, and remember all the good times we shared. Leo was always such a special person, and I always looked up to you both with a bit of envy that you had such a loving relationship.
I still can recall staying at your home in BC...those years were good, full of many memories.
I am sad to hear that Leo suffered, surely he is in a better place.
My sincerest sympathies.
Best Regards
Jane
