Chris Shilladay (cousin).
Stephen had a prodigious musical talent and because he was so well read casual conversations could turn into tutorials. We had many lively discussions, often unresolved, but always fun.
On his great grandfather’s head stone there is a quotation from Shakespeare’s Cymbeline:
‘Fear no more the heat o' the sun,
Nor the furious winter's rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages;
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.’
Rest in peace Stephen, you’ll be missed.

I’m so glad we got to know Stephen and the Canadian part of our family. We enjoyed some stimulating travel to foreign countries as well as to Canada and in the UK with Stephen, Laura and Nick. I particularly remember Stephen’s joy in Athens when walking in Saint Paul’s foot steps on Mars Hill at the foot of the Acropolis. Not forgetting his heated discussion with the evangelists outside the Moot Hall in Keswick, England. I’m sure his arguments carried the day ...
He participated in equally lively discussions with my physicist husband, Stephen’s cousin, Chris. Such a lively and enquiring mind and such an impressive memory. We will miss our stimulating travel companion and should current travel restrictions allow, will dedicate the proposed trip we had discussed to Israel to Stephen .

Dear Laura,
We were so sad to hear of Russil's passing. I have great memories from sitting in front of him in the choir, and of travelling with him through Europe. Stephen and I both fondly remember the dinner we shared with the two of you in Rotterdam.
I am so grateful to have done "The Search" program with both you and Russil, last spring. Those discussions and memories will always be treasured.

Our deepest condolences Laura and family
I met Russil and Laura 24 years ago through my husband (Paul ) I still remember when Russil was trying to talk to me in Spanish and I was trying to reply in Portuguese because my English it was so broken! it was great memories! The last memory I had with Russil and his wife it was in Montreal 3 years ago at William and Tummy’s wedding ( Bill and Linda’s son ) and we had a such great time
The heaven will be receiving one more star to be shining out there! Until we meet again my friend Rest In Peace and god bless your soul

Russil was my friend and conspiracy buddy. It was a shock and I am sad. I will see you in the next world.
He and I were often alone in our views. Russil pray for me and I will keep praying for you. My favorite memory was Russil driving like a maniac and getting crap for parking wrong. A free spirit, thinker and a believer in Jesus. Good bye for now friend. Play a tune for the boss.

I am honored to call Russil my friend. We've been friends since I think around 1973. Russil was his own man, formed his own opinions and was not to be swayed by simple persuasion...this led to many lively debates between us over the years, for though we were friends, there were things we didn't agree on....we debated....sometimes with great emotion. However, the friendship was sturdy.
I admired Russil's abilty to absorb and retain knowledge.....the structure of music..... the bible....history....he could take that in and hold it for dispensation when required. This made him an excellent student, and learning was a life long pursuit for him. Russil was a wonderful musician.... he could pull out beautiful solos on his guitar on a whim, or sit at a piano and drop a melody on us with ease, and I treasure the times I've been able to play music with him. When I first started my own musical journey (40 plus years ago), Russil took me in to Mike Gillette music and helped me select my first bass guitar. I'm still playing, and value the shared passion that we had in music.
He was a very proud Yorkshireman!
Russil and Laura have been a special part of our family life.....we shared many dinners over the years...my children think of Russil and Laura as an extra uncle and aunt... and the encouragement and interest Russil and Laura showed in them over the years is something I know they value. I will miss my dear friend very very much.
