Obituary of Ted van Zanten
Theodorus “Ted” van Zanten was born in Heemskerk, North Holland, Netherlands on May 23, 1930.
Ted was the fourth youngest of 18 children born to Margaretha and Cornelis van Zanten.
Ted was a hard-working young man who grew up working for his family’s tulip business.
When he was 21 years old he came to Canada seeking the land of opportunity, where he joined his brother John and his wife Marie.
After five years he went back to Holland for a visit, and while he was there he swept his beautiful “Bep” off her feet. She then joined him in Surrey, BC, six months later.
They were married and had four children, all the while working hard and eventually establishing Pan American Nursery Products along with Ted’s brother John.
Ted enjoyed a wonderful family life, he showed unconditional love to everyone, he loved hosting get togethers where all were welcome and he also loved to travel with his Beppie.
He was joyful right up until the day he peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family, and he was loved by all the nurses at Peace Portal Seniors Village. Ted’s joy and peace came from his strong faith in the Lord our God, which was lived out by loving his neighbour as himself.
Ted will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, especially his wife Bep, their children Ed (Wanda), Margie, Michael (Carmen) and Linda (Don), his fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Good Shepherd Church, 2250 150th St., Surrey, BC.
