Obituary of Wanda Huynh
Wanda Kamlai Huynh, beloved girlfriend, cherished family member, and friend to many, passed away August 30, 2021 in a tragic car accident on her way to Williams Lake, BC. Wanda was born October 20th, 1993 in Vancouver, BC. She was taken from us far too young. In her 27 years with us she was someone who brought people together with her sweet heart and big smile.
Wanda was a very strong young woman who suffered greatly in her adult life. She was diagnosed in her grade 12 year with Seronegative Rheumatoid Arthritis. This disease altered every aspect of her life, but Wanda never gave up and was incredibly brave in her battle with this very debilitating disease, fighting through immense pain and physical limitations, and rehabbing after double hip surgery.
Wanda worked hard to live her life to the fullest by regaining as much function as she could. She learned how to walk again with the help from the community and health professionals from the Mary Pack Arthritis Centre, BC Rehab Foundation and GF Strong. While at GF Strong she met the love of her life Carl. Later she was able to return to her job at the Vancouver Aquarium.
Wanda continually gave back to the communities and individuals that had assisted her in her recovery. She was a very active volunteer and speaker for many Arthritis Society events. In 2016 Wanda was the recipient for the BC Rehab Gert Vorsteher Memorial Award, and was honoured through the Arthritis Society for all of her efforts and her strength. She was an active member of the gem stone community. She attended Cloverdale Christian Fellowship church.
Wanda was preceded in death by her grandmother Loung Muoi, her grandfather Huynh Te Cu, her favourite pet puppy Lucky Huynh, all in the past 2 years.
Wanda leaves behind her loving boyfriend Carl, mother Anna, brother Jimmy, father Thanh (wife Lien, half siblings Linh, Yen and Tuan Hai), aunt Jenny, uncle Roland (cousins Sophia and Max), aunt Phan, uncle Tran (cousin Krystal), aunt Yen, uncle Cuong (cousins Kellie and Daniel), uncle Tinny, Aunty Jill (cousins Stephanie, Olivia and Tamara), aunt Phoung, stepfather Jeff (step siblings Keegan and Kylie), Vicki and the Fogale family, her best friends Jennifer and Fannie, and her precious kitty Harvey.
We will all miss Wanda terribly, and can’t imagine our lives without her. Our family is heartbroken.
