Questions To Ask When Choosing A Cremation Provider

If you are considering cremation as an option for a deceased family member, here are some relevant questions to ask:

1. What Services Do I Get?

Different cremation service providers offer different packages at varying price tags. Your service provider must explain to you the various price ranges and the services included in those packages. By law, funeral homes are required to provide clear pricing to their clients. Get a copy of their price list so that you have a clear idea of the services you get and their costs.

2. What Kind of Cremation Services Do You Offer?

If you have handed over the cremation arrangements to a funeral home, enquire about an on-site crematory. Since many funeral homes use third party providers, they transfer your loved one to them to care temporarily.

It is important for you to know whether cremations are outsourced by the funeral home or a standalone crematory. You need to be aware of the place where your loved one will be transferred and how the body will be returned.

3. What Service Options Do You Have?

The remembrance service is an important aspect of funeral arrangements. If you plan to have one, it will influence your options during the cremation process. If your loved one wanted a funeral service, you may need to rent a casket. As the remains will be placed at the memorial service, enquire whether they have a dedicated space to conduct the memorial service after the cremation.

Even if you decide on a simple cremation without a memorial service and visitation, you may like to be present at the place where the cremation is arranged. Some funeral providers have the facility of a waiting room for the deceased’s family.
