Most develop a personal connection with special songs and have their own preferences, which means you can incorporate music into a loved one’s memorial service or funeral. At Arbutus Funeral Service, we have seen just how impactful music can be. You can personalize a funeral with unique and interesting song selections. Here are some tips that can help:

1. Choose Music Your Loved One Cherished

Everyone has some band or song they love. Even people who aren’t great music buffs connect with a particular song on a deeper level. You can include this music in the funeral process, especially during the memorial service. Make a playlist with the deceased individual’s favorite songs, singers, or genre of music. Pick pieces that are unique but still appropriate for funerals because you don’t want to offend anyone.

2. Choose Songs that Will Offer Emotional Comfort

If the deceased individual wasn’t very particular about music and you don’t know what kinds of songs should be included in the playlist, we recommend picking something comforting. 3. You Don’t Need Song Lyrics

Some people prefer instrumentals for funerals because they are fairly neutral. You don’t need to worry people talking about the lyrics or genre of music. Instrumentals can be comforting too, especially if you choose something soft, soothing, but unique.
