Obituary of Betty Perret

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

BETTY PERRET (Sterling), (95 yrs) of Fort Langley, BC, passed away in Langley Memorial Hospital on October 14th, 2018 after a brief illness.

BETTY was born in McLEAN SASKATCHEWAN on JANUARY 14, 1923. Early in her life, she moved to North Vancouver. It was there that she met her future husband, Nolan, and where she forged a lifetime of memories - hiking, skiing, going to dances and just having fun. After they married, Nolan’s work in the Canadian Wildlife Service took them across Canada and back again, with stops in Winnipeg, Aurora, Manotick, and all points in between. Many summers were spent in the Maritimes, where Nolan was doing field work. Betty has called B.C. home for 40 years, with the past 25 years living in Fort Langley. Betty enjoyed knitting, quilting and sewing, as well as being outside in her garden. Up until five years ago, Betty was extremely active in the community as a docent at the Langley Centennial Museum and a volunteer for celebrations at the Fort Langley historical site. She has also been a long-time sister with the charitable sorority P.E.O., which works to help women advance in their careers and studies.

BETTY is survived by her children, Lorill Anderson, Verne & Debbie Perret, Fiona & Bill Alexander, and dear friend Moira Perret; grandchildren Cole & Shane Anderson, and Lisa & Nolan Perret. Betty also has a huge network of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Betty was predeceased by her husband Nolan and her son-in-law Allan.

The family extends a special thank you to Lisa and Nolan for living with and caring for their beloved mémère for many years prior to her passing.  They also want to thank all those who helped support Betty to live at home for all of her days.  This was her most fervent wish.

As per Betty’s wishes, there will not be a funeral. Family and friends are invited to drop in to Betty’s home on SATURDAY OCTOBER 20th from 1pm to 5pm to join in remembering and celebrating a remarkable lady’s life. Please do not wear all black!  Memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Ducks Unlimited or the SPCA.

  “Until we meet again.”
