Obituary of William Coronel De Leon
It is with deep sorrow that we announce our beloved William Coronel De Leon, 60, has joined our Creator on June 7, 2018. William passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Surrey Memorial Hospital after courageously enduring lung cancer for over a year. During his battle, William entrusted all of his sufferings to God.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Abigail, and his children, Aidan, Samantha, and Justin. With his siblings, Amy, Leandro, Beth, Lyn, , and Aldrin, we continuously pray for his eternal repose.
He was born in Malabon, Manila, Philippines, on April 14, 1958, son of the late Leandro Perez De Leon, Sr. and Amelita Coronel De Leon. During his childhood, he spent his time playing basketball with friends, singing and playing guitar, and fostering close relationships with his siblings. By his 20’s, William achieved a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from Far Eastern University and since then moved to Makati City where he spent his working years in Prudential Bank Main Office. In March 2003, he migrated to Orange County, California with his family for 8 years and eventually moved to Vancouver, B.C. until his passing.
William enjoyed the simple things in life, like music, movies and sports. Most importantly, he was a devoted Catholic who loved spending time with his family, as well as a member of the Focolare movement since his time in the Philippines. Even when faced with illness, William kept a light-heart and his famous sense of humor, as well as his unconditional care for his family - always asking of their well-being before thinking of his.
William will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones, but as the saying goes, “no one dies if someone is here to remember”.
