Obituary of George Elgan Brunatti
Born to Ruth and Amelio Brunatti at Grace Hospital in Vancouver on January 5, 1958, George joined older sister Connie to grow up in Richmond where he attended elementary and secondary school. A lover of sports, he began a disciplined regime of nutrition and weight training in his teens. He loved the strategy and camaraderie of being a team player and this lead to him playing football for the Richmond Colts, Richmond Raiders and BC Lions.
After several years working in the grocery industry for such names as “Woodwards” and “Save On Foods” George decided to take on the challenge of starting his own business. Over the past 25 years he created and nurtured a landscape maintenance business. Starting as a one man proprietorship, and in recent years, expanding to an incorporated partnership, he mentored many employees along the way. Both professional and personable he was well respected by clients, councils and property managers. He loved his work and devoted himself to a job (perfectly) well done.
Married to Jacqueline in 1993 and raising their two sons Benjamin and Matthew, he was a devoted, fun- loving husband and father. He loved nothing better than secrets and surprises – especially at Christmas!
George always lived daily life to the fullest, content with the simplest of pleasures. He was undaunted by adversity and found satisfaction and fulfillment in his family, friends and hard work. His valiant battle with cancer over the past year is inspirational.
No words can express our intense loss, but we are eternally grateful for the gift of his life shared with us.
Dear George,
If I could sit across the porch from God,
I would thank Him for lending me you.
