Obituary of Len Wills

Please share a memory of Len to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leonard Walter Wills
July 13, 1937 - July 8; 2021
It is with great sadness that the happy, loving, gentleman known to all as Len, passed away peacefully surrounded by family 5 days before his 84th birthday. Len will be forever remembered by his wife Jacqueline, his children Eric (Sara), Dana, Naomi (Brett), Terry (Brianna)and Julie (Josh) and Crystal who became like a daughter, his 9 grandchildren Hanna, Anika, Nikolaus, Noah, Amelia, Molly, Alexander, Madeline, and Soleil as well as his best furry friends Lennie and Penny. Len will also be lovingly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews as their favourite “Uncle Len”. Throughout his life he had many who fondly called him Dad or Papa even those in his care facility. Len is survived by his sister Margaret and predeceased by his parents and 9 siblings.

Len lived a full and happy life making everyone’s spirit lift in his presence. His gift of hospitality and welcoming provided a safe haven for many especially our friends from Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Kosovo. For years he worked as a heavy-duty mechanic working on major projects like the Coquihalla Highway and the Vancouver airport as their field mechanic. Just recently he received recognition for 50 years of service with the International Union of Operating Engineers. After retiring he began a new career as a restaurateur at Britannia Fish and Chip in Abbotsford where he amassed new friends. His favourite pastime was volunteering at St. Dunstan’s Church in Aldergrove where he wore many hats. From being a Choir Member, Warden, Stephen Minister to his favourite role as “Verger”. In his final months he found new friends at “The Residence In Mission” (TRIM) where he was treated with so much love, grace and respect we will be forever grateful to them. We kindly ask in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Dunstan Garden of Remembrance where he will be interred in September at its completion. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Dunstan’s on his birthday July 13, 2021, at 4 p.m. so as to include his International Families members across both oceans.

Len is a good man." We will not say he was, because we believe, though dying changes our form, it does not alter our soul.
Our soul keeps living and evolving in ways we can only imagine."
